Slow, Gentle Yoga for Pacing & Deep Rest

My overall aim for this Slow, Gentle Yoga for Pacing and Deep Rest Class and Membership is to provide the opportunities for really deep and meaningful rest and for you to enjoy whatever movement is safe and available to you day by day.

It is a slow and supportive class with no standing poses. The focus is on rest, gentle floor-or bed based movement (no standing poses), breathing practices and Yoga Nidra deep relaxation.

It’s suitable for people living with ME/CFS, PEM, Long Covid, PoTS, fatigue-related conditions, cancer, or recovering from illness or treatment.

You don’t need to be managing a health issue to attend — it’s also ideal if you’re simply looking for a very gentle, quiet class with a slower pace.

Slow and Gentle Yoga

  • Gentle breathing practices to support functional breathing.

  • Floor or bed-based movements to improve body awareness, reduce tension, and ease movement.

  • Accessible meditation & Yoga Nidra deep relaxation to support the nervous system and reduce inflammation.

  • Pacing techniques to help manage fatigue and prevent post-exertional crashes.

  • Micro-movements & stillness – move as little or as much as feels right, or simply visualise.

  • Vagal nerve support – traditional yogic breathing techniques, proven by science to regulate the autonomic nervous system, aiming to improve parasympathetic tone and heart rate variability.

  • Interoceptive awareness – tuning into subtle sensations to help develop emotional regulation and overall wellbeing.

  • Mindful awareness to gently shift how you relate to thoughts and worries.

I’ve been teaching yoga for people living with ME/CFS and  fatigue related conditions for over 16 years (and more recently, those with Long Covid).  I have also been working with Sheffield Hallam University and an NHS service provider on a research project to develop yoga programmes for people with Long Covid.

My Slow and Gentle Yoga  and the Yoga Nidra  classes are all online - no need to travel. Stay in control of your space: keep your camera on or off, lie down, use a chair, or even practice from bed. There are regular pauses, and you’re encouraged to visualise movements and rest before you are tired. Join the chat at the start or end - or skip it if that feels better.

A gentle, supportive approach. Pacing to stay within your energy envelope is key. Less is more. Gentle guidance helps you tune into your body and mind. We focus on interoception and proprioception (body awareness), which support wellbeing. Read more about these in my blog.
